marvel spider-man 2 was created by insomniac games and released on playstation 5 October 20 2023. This instalment marks the third entry in the Marvel's Spider-Man series, serving as both a sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man (2018) and a continuation of the storyline introduced in Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020). Spider-man 2 introduces new villains and new and exciting story arcs including Kraven the hunter, and his rampage to find a new fighter to take his life in what he deems honourable. Venom is also introduced to us, first binding to Harry and then Peter as he’s about to die. The symbiote saved Peter's life, however when bonding to Peter, his loved ones found new difficulties as it changed his personality and he became violent, almost turning Peter into the symbiote Venom. The gameplay builds on the foundation that was originally built by the previous games, with an emphasis on the ability to switch play styles and switch between Peter Parker and Miles Morales as Spider-Men. The game expands on their existing traversal and combat abilities, including new web-based gadgets like their web gliders and suits that can be unlocked through progressing in the story. It also introduces the former Spider-Man's symbiote suit and the negative symbiote suit. Both granting Parker unique abilities from his previous playable appearance.

Spider-man 2 is a single player action-adventure game and that being said the highlights were the animations of this game. The art direction they took for this game was a good call in my opinion, with some exceptions with the suits. The final Miles Morales suit was terrible, it didn't make sense and looked outdated for the new tech that Miles has, the suit lacked creativity and felt like it was in the game to please people. The black noir suit could have been done a bit better and I think could have looked more like the Spider-verse version, whereas this one just looks bland and boring. Darker tones don't mean duller.
Player Experience

Player experience for the game was a lot of fun. I truly enjoyed this game, although they have always had good mechanics it truly was my favourite version of the game even beating out the first spider-man game. This game gives us more of an insight on Peter and Miles' lives, showing us the struggles they deal with even when they aren’t spider-men. Venom's perspective on the world was also fascinating as it gave; the age of Ultron reminiscent, where Venom saw what he was doing as healing the world.
