Spider-man 2
Game Design and Critique

Level Design
The levels in spider-man were excellent in my opinion for the most part. I loved the storytelling and the overall ark of the game, even some of the side quests were a lot of fun. Most of the side quests however weren’t enjoyable. For example the ones for miles where he has taken on Mysterio’s carnival games was enjoyable the first time but after that it felt extremely repetitive. Even the level with Mary Jane was enjoyable because of the small doses we got. The ending also proved to be difficult, as you needed to take on symbiotes to gain abilities, however the symbiotes roaming the streets were challenging to kill and it became irritating because they were everywhere and you couldn't avoid them. My favourite level was playing as venom where you finally defeated Kraven the hunter, it felt like a justified ending for the character. That battle gave a little more of a darker tone to the game and was surprising to watch. The ending was also the best cinematic ending I have ever seen in a game. Miles and Peter working together to take on Venom was amazing to watch as well as see their bond grow as a team.
Character Design
The character design was great in my opinion, I loved most of the suits and the ability to customise them. It felt like you had more suits than you did. They included some comic accurate characters like scream, (Mary Jane) as a Symbiote, all the villains recurring from the first title such as black cat, sandman, lizard, scorpion and references to vulture. Venom was done well but his motives were reminiscent of Ultron, and he was immune to fire unlike his comic version in storylines. Venom not having a fire weakness made sense for the game and it still worked. Peter was perfect and was enjoyable to play as whether he was in the symbiote suit or not. Miles felt more of a let down this time then his first game. With the character Miles I felt a little cheated, and preferred the version and personality from the animated movies adaptations. In this game it felt like they were trying to please groups of people instead of focusing on the character, and that made him feel very basic and it lacked depth of character that they built in the first game.

User Interface
The UI felt confusing especially at the beginning. They kept it similar to the other games but the changes that they made were something to get used to. For example, It was hard to understand what you needed for gadgets and what you needed for other costumes. In my opinion the collectables should have been separate, because if you bought a suit you couldn't buy a gadget or ability or upgrade the Spider-men. The UI could have been more simple, and with two spider-man it made it more complex but it is important to make it clear what does what without having to search it up and I felt like they could have done a better job at that.
